Everywhere we seem to look we now see suedette. If you’re not in the know then suedette is a synthetic fabric that takes on the look and feel of real suede. It is cheaper to manufacture and therefore cheaper for the consumer to purchase. This is music to our ears as sometimes suede is out of some people’s fashion budget. Here are some of the styles that can be made from suedette and can be found on the high street or in your independent boutiques…
Shoes and Boots
Suedette footwear looks fantastic and is a go to when the mercury rises and the Spring/Summer swings into action (Suedette doesn’t fair too well in the rain so make a note of what time of year it is when buying shoes or boots in that fabric). You can find a huge selection of footwear such as ankle boots, knee high boots, sneakers and moccasins to name just a few. The material is durable and will stand the test of time as long as you’re trying to take care of them a little bit. A fantastic edition to anyones footwear collection.
Jackets
Suedette jackets are again, fantastic for the Spring/Summer. Lightweight but still heavy enough to keep you warm on a Summers night, they are perfect to wear over a dress or top when you hit the town. Floral printed suedette is the go to fabric this season. Vibrant pops of colour or anything in pastel shades would put you right at the top of the fashion food chain.
Dresses
Suedette dresses are perfect for this transitional period we are going through at the moment. Heavy enough to keep you from getting a chill but light enough to wear of the weather takes a turn for the better. They look elegant and expensive so would be perfect to wear for a special occasion, such as a Springtime wedding. Team up with a lightweight shrug or bolero to finish off the look.
