The universally flattering colour was used as a powerful symbol to protest sexual harassment in Hollywood, and almost every major star showed up in black to stand in solidarity. A handful of attendees didn’t wear black at all, for cultural reasons or otherwise, but the carpet was largely a sea of black with pops of colour.

The padded shoulders also gave the look a sense of female power which we felt was apt after the recent discovery of sexual harassment in Hollywood.
